: Hand-written reports received by the Korean Red Cross, for submission to the ICRC, which in turn sent them to the North Korean Red Cross for replies, from the Korean War abductees¡¯ families hoping to receive information on the fate of the abductees. The families, desperate to get any information from the North on the fate of the abductees, had to accept use of the phrase ¡®displaced civilian¡¯ instead of ¡®abductee¡¯ as North Korea rejected to accept the word ¡®abductee.¡¯
