As announced, a signature-gathering campaign demanding information on abductees¡¯ fates, organized by Chosun Daily and sponsored by the Korean Red Cross, starts today.
The fates of some 7,000 civilians have been unknown for the 14 years since they were abducted by North Korea. We are certain that the campaign, which appeals to global public opinion and humanitarianism, will attract enthusiastic support and cooperation from across the nation.
The campaign will be conducted by the head office, local branches and local branch office network on the streets and in companies. In downtown Seoul, groups of two students from Sook-myung Women¡¯s Univeristy will take signatures at 14 posts on designated streets from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
