Abduction Victims' Families Take Kim Jong-un to ICC

The families of people kidnapped by North Korea during the Korean War will present a bill of indictment to the International Criminal Court against North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on Wednesday.

The Korean War Abductees' Family Union on Sunday it will submit the bill of indictment to the ICC on Wednesday, accusing Kim Jong-un as well as Defense Minister Jang Jong-nam and two other officials of detaining the victims and failing to inform the families of their whereabouts.

The organization's head Lee Mi-il said, "North Korea abducted 96,013 civilians as part of a careful plan during the Korean War. Although Kim Jong-un did not carry out the abduction by himself, he has continued to deny that North Korea abducted civilians and refused to provide any information about them."

Lee added this is a clear violation of the Rome Statute that counts enforced disappearance as a crime against humanity.
